How to Install Clip-Ins with Braided Natural Hair
One of the best things about clip-ins is how simple they are to install. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how I install my Light Yaki Straight Clip-Ins by braiding down my natural hair:
Start by detangling your hair before braiding. Now this step is optional but you can work on old braids tucked into a low bun or you can use braids from an old sew-in or wig. I do highly recommend a braid down under your clips in to avoid tension on your scalp.
Braid down each section of your natural hair, keeping the braids tight and neat to create a secure foundation for the clip-ins. I braided my hair into wig braids with my cornrows going to the back. This process doesn’t have to be perfect but it does need to be flat so your clip-ins won’t look bulky. If you choose not to braid down your hair, it could hurt your scalp resulting in you taking you clip-ins out every night before bed. Begin clipping the extensions onto the braids, starting from the back and working your way up. Make sure to snap the clips securely into place. This is what my braid down and clip-ins looked like from the back and side angle. Do you notice how I have hair left out in my perimeter to cover up the clip-in tracks?
Once all the clip-ins are installed, use a wide-tooth comb or brush to blend the extensions with your natural hair. I used my flat iron on light heat to blend the clip-ins with my natural hair. The result is a seamless, natural look with extra length and volume!
